Brand “X” Blues ♫ jazz sextet composed and arranged by Rich Willey
$10.00
Do you enjoy a blues that is way more than a blues? This one sounds very plain if you just play the melody, but when you add the chords you get a delightful way to hear and play the blues.
Many audiences and groups have enjoyed this tune since Rich wrote it in 1986. Now you can, too.
Description
Brand “X” Blues — this 12-bar blues in has been arranged two ways. Suggested to be played all instruments unison first time through (no chords), then unison melody second time with chords. Coltrane changes transform a rather plain-sounding melody into a very harmonically complex tune. For the out-chorus, there is a counter-melody that adds even more interest to this composition.
Total length of chart is 24-bars, but there’s a whole lot of music there. Performance suggestions are printed on chart. Difficulty level is intermediate to advanced based on tempo and ability to negotiate Coltrane changes.
Parts for trumpet, tenor sax, trombone and rhythm section come in a PDF that you’ll be able to download immediately upon submission of your order.
Written solos for any of our charts may be special ordered at a reasonable cost. Email us through our contact page with any and all inquiries.
