Description
Hard Hearted Hannah by Yellen/Ager/Bigelow/Bates ♫ arranged for vocalist + septet by Rich Willey.
Great novelty tune from 1924 that is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Four-horn introduction, then trumpet player sings (or plays) the verse followed by the refrain with background figures by the other three horns complete with stop-time sections. Solo section includes chord changes to verse as well as refrain. After solos, trumpet player sings (or plays) a second verse followed by a different refrain with different background figures by the other three horns including stop-time sections. At the end of that chorus, the tempo picks up for another refrain with stop-time leading into a slow, “bump ‘n’ grind” finish. This makes a perfect encore number.
Arranged to be played at ♩ = 112 (brighter section at 148 and “bump ‘n’ grind” section at 80). 128 written measures, duration depends on number of solos, difficulty level is intermediate to advanced. This is an arrangement that’s been thoroughly edited and is tried and proven.
