It’s Worth A Try ♫ jazz sextet composed and arranged by Rich Willey
Would you like your sextet to play something that sounds fresh and modern but isn’t too far out? Does your sax player or your pianist crave those snazzy chords with an abundance of alterations and “suss and plus” polytonalities?
If you answered “yes” then this arrangement might be right down your alley.

Description
It’s Worth A Try was composed and arranged specifically for jazz sextet by Rich Willey when he was a graduate student at the Manhattan School of Music in 2001 and studying with the great Mike Abene.
This modern-sounding Latin/rock tune is a standard head chart (play arrangement, blow solos, play same arrangement again to end).
Medium to advanced level of difficulty mostly due to the chord changes. Tempo: ♩ = 132.
Parts for trumpet or alto sax 1, alto sax or tenor sax 2, tenor sax or trombone 3, and rhythm section (we refer to this as “Flextet” instrumentation) come in a PDF that you’ll be able to download immediately upon submission of your order.
Written solos for any of our charts may be special ordered at a reasonable cost. Email us through our contact page with any and all inquiries.
♫ Listen to a live performance of this arrangement with Rich Willey on trumpet, Eric Glazier on alto sax, Matt Olson on tenor sax, Richard Shulman on piano, Shannon Hoover on bass, and Jeff Hook on drums (this is a board mix from the PA system, definitely not a studio-quality mix):
