Description
This chart is an epic 12/8 work that will take your audience on a whirlwind tour without leaving their seats. The amazing Wally Minko has combined Latin, jazz, and symphonic elements seamlessly in his arrangement of Rich Willey’s Down & Dirty.
Written for five saxophones, five trumpets (solo 5th trumpet part can be played on trumpet or bass trumpet, as Rich did in the recording below), piccolo trumpet soloist, four trombones, piano, guitar, bass, drums and added percussionist. There are no doubles for any of the wind instruments in this chart.
The lead trumpet part goes up to a four leger-line G, as does the piccolo trumpet part. This tune is Grade 6. Chart length is 208 written bars, tempo is ♩. = 120 and the score is 26 pages. Your band’s reading ability will improve dramatically after you have rehearsed for awhile with all the slick syncopations in this 12/8 meter chart.
Our big band charts are now available only as PDF files for you to print out yourself (at half the price that we used to charge for printed parts).
